  1. Interesting. I was discussing this very topic with someone today after reading an interview with Jon Foreman of Switchfoot, where he proposed that since everything we create is made using existing materials, perhaps all creation is in fact just re-appropriation (other than that which is created by God, of course).

    This video reminds me of how hard it is to be original! I'm continually finding myself subconsciously leaning towards melodies that I've heard elsewhere. I guess we are always working with a finite number of notes, words and chords!

  2. It is amazing that we can create so many fresh variations using the same small number of letters and notes. Somehow art is able to be greater than the sum of its parts, and that's what makes creating magical to me.
